from Dave Sharpton:

“Would you like to have a talk with your son?”

Would you like your son to know as much about life as possible?”

“Are you looking for an icebreaker to a conversation?”

‘A Point of Reference’ has some of the absolute, imperative knowledge that young men need to know about. It also has some important information that has not been stressed, impressed, or amplified enough to them, and it is information that they sometimes dismiss as just simple advice or suggestion. The book is targeted to young men who are going from junior high, into high school.

This book has been written to give a Father, Mother, Single Mom, Grandparent or a Mentor, a platform or subject to work from. The book will strengthen and improve, or maybe restore and enable the conversation we all want to have with our young men. A Point of Reference gets you into the conversation by taking on topics every young man needs to know about. It gives you the opportunity to start a conversation with “hey, how did you like that book”, or “how did you like that part about sex and women” or “was there anything new you didn’t know about in the book?’

This is a book of direction, encouragement, and advice about the prospects of life, it’s many different circumstances, and just growing up as a young man. I talk about health and hygiene, how to get along with family, finding a career and keeping a job, and the very important topic of money.

In the book I also try to tell them something about sex, women, love, and stepping up and being responsible for a child that they may bring into this world. There are also a whole host of other subjects including drugs and alcohol, and trying to avoid getting caught up in the moment of pulling a prank.

A Point Of Reference is in no way meant to replace the conversation that anyone would have with their son. I am just trying to bring these topics to light, so they can be discussed. I want to help young men avoid any time when they might have to say “I didn’t know that” or “nobody ever told me that” I’m trying to help them avoid the “school of hard knocks”

I’m sure we have all seen a young man from time to time and said to yourself “ that kid just doesn’t get it”, this book can help inform that young man and help him to “get it”.

Some of the information in the book, I’m sure, you have already taught or tried to get across to your son. Unfortunately, many young men are being given information by friends and acquaintances out in the street. Information from some kids, who themselves have had no real positive adult male direction, and who are unable to give out the right information. My goal is to back you up with the correct information a young man needs to succeed and more.

I remember as a young man at that age, you couldn’t get me near a book unless it had pictures in it. This book is short , and is interesting as most books go. The topics covered will inform, encourage, educate and entertain. The information in this book is invaluable, and any young man will benefit from reading it.

We will soon be in the graduation gift giving time. If you want to have your son or any young man you know, get as much information as possible about life, you need to get this book for him.

Your son can also check out the BRAND NEW “You Tube” Channel I have created that has video “shorts” of myself actually giving some direction, encouragement and advice. I’m trying to get the videos 0ut once a week, they are very informative. This allows any young man to get a chance and see me and get to know me, so when they do read the book, they will get a better feel for the message I am trying to get across to them. The youtube channel also allows them to leave a question about any topic that they would like me to discuss. They could subscribe to the channel and get updated as soon as any new video comes out.

Also Please take advantage of the great tool that Facebook is and leave a comment about the book on the wall. Let me know what you think.

Thank You.
